Alternative Transportation Coming to The Energy Corridor!
Houston’s Energy Corridor has grown into a hotbed for jobs and urban housing options. With the location becoming more and more popular, traffic and congestion during peak traffic hours can become an issue. This is why city traffic planners are now taking a new approach to reducing congestion with varies amenities being added to new developments! Below are three alternative transportation methods The Energy Corridor has developed to help reduce stress caused by traffic congestion
-Public Transit Improvements
The district has worked with the Metropolitan Transit Authority on commuter bus routes that serve the area’s business employees. The Energy Corridor recently completed a very successful pilot program to justify the Metro keeping these commuter routes.
Cars can now be rented on an hourly basis and priced on the time of day. Some examples include Zipcars for commuters and the Fleet Share program for Houston’s government employees
BP, Shell, and other companies have developed incredible bike commute programs for their employees. For example, BP has a bike locker in their garage stocked with commuter and off road bicycles as well as maintenance tools and materials. These programs have led the city to improve street and intersection bike paths.
