Exploring Houston's Museums
The City of Houston is home to a renowned museum district, and the residents of Alexan Enclave Apartments don't have to go very far to experience all it has to offer. Whether you are interested in science, art or history, our city's museums feature many fun and enlightening hands on activities.
The Houston Museum of Natural Sciences is one of the top ten attended museums in the United States! Visitors can explore outer space in the museum's planetarium, learn about the lives of butterflies in the living butterfly habitat or view a film in the Imax theatre. Explore one of the permanent exhibits like the Hall of Ancient Egypt, or experience one of the special exhibits, like the shark exhibit running though September 7th.
The Museum of Fine Art is one of the largest museums in the United States. It's permanent collection features over 6,000 years of fine art, as well their special exhibits. Visitors can take advantage of events like films, book clubs and tours, and they offer kids events, like their shadow monster exhibit.
At the Children's Museum, the young, or the young at heart, can explore and learn through a variety of hands on exhibits like the building zone, the eco station or the inventor's workshop. The museum also runs special exhibits and events like the nutrition expo or home school day.
If you have ever wondered how the human body works, The Health Museum is your destination. It is a member institution of the Texas Medical Institute that teaches about the human body, medical science and health through hands on and interactive activities. Visitors can view real organ dissections, or see if they have what it takes to be a doctor in a mini-med school. The museum's 4D theatre features films that offer an inside and out look at the human body and its functions.
