Holiday Lights in Houston
Looking for bright lights in our big city of Houston? Look no further than downtown on December 4th! That evening, from 6 to 8 p.m., the city of Houston will kick off the holiday season with the 96th Annual Mayor's Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting. There will be live music, fireworks, a gingerbread village and special visits by Houston Ballet’s sugar plum fairies.
The tree lighting will take place at 6 p.m., when the enormous holiday tree will be lit up into an impressive light display. A series of musical performances headlined by Al Jarreau, a 7-time Grammy award winner, will follow. There will be a number of other performers, including Houston’s own RaeLynn, a finalist on televisions The Voice, the T.H. Rogers Signing Choir, Divisi Strings, and the HITS company singers. Also performing will be Ernest Walker and his Official Holiday Band, who will perform with a choice combined from several Houston area public High Schools. Don’t forget to stop by the Gingerbread Village for holiday food and beverages! At the end of the night, the finale will include a spectacular fireworks show.
If there is music, shouldn’t there also be dance? Well, there will be, provided by the Casino Stars of Venezuela, an international dance company that creates a unique and innovative style of dancing.
