Celebrate Cinco de Mayo!
Cinco de Mayo celebrations are here! If you didn’t know already, Cinco de Mayo is a day that commemorates the defeat of the French by the Mexican army at Puebla. Many people choose to celebrate with Mexican food and margaritas to honor this defeat.
This Cinco de Mayo, why not check out some of the more intriguing Mexican restaurants in Houston, TX? Here is a look at a few:
Cuchara terms itself a “Mexico City bistro.” Why? This open air restaurant is home to plenty of colorful murals, handmade crafts and authentic pottery. These qualities enliven guests’ meals even more so than the usual Mexican eatery.
And the food is authentic and made fresh for you! The chicken mole negro has been recognized as the darkest mole in Mexican cookery with over 34 different and unique ingredients. The Mixiotes de Camaron is cooked in maguey leaves with spiced shrimp. There are all sorts of wonderful dishes that can be paired with a beverage of your choice. Bar selection includes mescal and Kahlua!
Check out their website to see some of Cuchara’s most memorable murals.
Another Mexican restaurant worth mentioning is Anejo. This establishment takes Tex-Mex cuisine to new heights. The founders define their Tex-Mex flare as the melting pot of Houston-centered cuisines. We recommend trying the queso fondue (appetizer, but also works as a plate), which combines Asadero, Oaxaca and Chihuahua cheese, charred serrano, tomatoes, onions, and jalapeño with habanero sidecar.
If you feel adventurous with meat, try the mole braised venison. It is made with Mexican spiced crème and pomegranate. Also of note in the exotic meats category is the chorizo rice stuffed Texas Hill Country quail, with ancho chili sauce, avocado mousse, and Texas pecans.
We hope you have a happy and safe Cinco de Mayo! Please contact us for more information on our Houston community.
And remember, the good life awaits you at Alexan Enclave.
