Enjoy Frozen Treats in Houston
It doesn't look like the heat is going away any time soon, but lucky for you there are plenty of places to cool down and enjoy a delicious frozen treat. Here are a few places in Westside Houston that you should check out before the summer is over.
Fat Cat Creamery: 1901 N. Shepherd Drive
Fat Cat's started out in a kitchen serving ice cream only on weekends and in the evenings. Now the adorable ice cream parlor is open 7 days a week starting at 11 am. (Check the website for closing times.) Each batch of ice cream is made with whole milk and heavy cream from a local creamery, sugar, eggs, and other fine ingredients. Daily flavors include Cat's Meow Mexican Vanilla, Milk Chocolate Stout, Waterloo Strawberry Buttermilk, Amaya Coffee and Cream, and the dairy-free Chai Tea Coconut. They also have seasonal flavors, push pops, bon-bons, sundaes, and delicious homemade ice cream sandwiches. There are plenty of options at Fat Cat's and as an added bonus, their serving containers and spoons are environmentally friendly.
Hank's Ice Cream: 9291 South Main Street
Hank's has been a family owned business for over 20 years; even Houston native Beyonce has indulged in a treat here. Open every day except Monday, Hank's has at least 16 flavors available at any given time. Their most popular flavor is butter pecan, but they also have blueberry cheesecake, banana pudding, and others. Make sure you ask for a "Cream Team" membership card so you can earn free ice cream.
Steel City Pops: 420 East 20th Street
For the health-conscious crowd, check out Steel City Pops for gluten-free, vegetarian popsicles made with all-natural, certified organic ingredients. Flavors are either fruity, creamy, or coffee-based. They also have cookie pops.
The next time you feel like the weather is just too hot to handle, pop-in to one of these local ice cream shops. If you're looking for luxury apartments in the westside of Houston, contact us for more information.
