During the day, the public skating sessions are bright, and when the sun goes down, the lights dim and the music blares. Admission is ten dollars, and there are plenty of skates available for rental.
Learn to Skate
The Learn to Skate program welcomes anyone ages three to adult. The classes are taught by knowledgeable instructors, and they're designed to provide all skaters with the necessary tools to reach their goals be it recreational or competitive. Students can start anytime during the year, and the program is endorsed by USA Figure Skating.
Adult Hockey Leagues
The center offers fall and winter adult hockey leagues for all abilities. The teams include Bruins, Hurricanes, and Super Troopers, and they play throughout the week.
Broomball originated in Canada, and this exciting sport is played on the ice with two teams of six. The game is similar to hockey and soccer, and players use a stick to move a six-inch diameter ball up and down the ice. It's played in spongy-soled shoes, and the object is to outscore the opposing team.
Curling is a generations-old sport first played in Scotland. It's related to lawn bowls and is game in which players slide a stone on the ice towards a target area. A distinctive part of curling is the broom, and this tradition was carried over from when it was played on frozen lakes where it was necessary to clear a path for the stone.
