Mark Your Calendar For The Wings Over Houston Airshow
Every October, the city hosts a premier event showcasing vintage World War II aircraft along with the thrills of modern aviation.
It's called the Wings Over Houston Airshow, and this year the fun takes place on the 20th and 21st.
Since its inception, the event has supported an array of local and national charities, and it's one of the top air shows in the country.
Warbird Ramp Displays
The Warbird Ramp features dozens of historic World War II, Korean, and Vietnam era aircraft. Visitors can tour inside the planes and talk to the different pilots.
Featuring two World War II Warbirds in their fleet, the Freedom Flyers strive to honor the sixteen million people who have served in the armed forces of the United States. The planes fly at airshows across the country, and the pilots offer free rides to World War II veterans.
U.S. Navy Blue Angels Performance Team
Approximately eleven million people watch the Blue Angels every year. Currently, six pilots fly the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet, and they still demonstrate many of the techniques used during the team's 1946 inaugural season.
Phillips 66 Aerostars
For more than ten years, the Phillips 66 Aerostars have taken to the sky wingtip to wingtip. They're known for flying at approximately 250 miles per hour while performing barrel rolls, graceful formations, and dramatic opposing maneuvers.
Debby Rihn-Harvey is one of the highest ranked acrobatic competitors in America. She has won numerous awards and was inducted into the Aviation Hall of Fame in 2003.
