On July fourth, Houstonians will celebrate more than thirty years of music and fireworks on Buffalo Bayou.
Freedom Over Texas is the city's signature tribute to patriotism, and before the fireworks light up the night sky, an array of artists will take to the stage:
Recently inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, Chris Young is a country artist who performs to sold-out crowds across the globe. Called "one of the era's finest traditionalists" by the Associated Press, he released his latest album to critical acclaim in 2017. Chris has received multiple CMA and Grammy Award nominations, and his setlist includes "Voices," "Trouble Looking," and "Leave Me Wanting More."
The Mavericks have entertained audiences for more than 25 years. Their unique blend of Cuban grooves and Bakersfield-inspired twang has earned them numerous ACM awards, and several of their singles have reached the charts. Sing along to songs such as "Goodnight Waltz," "Stories We Could Tell," and "Out the Door."
Known as a vocal prowess, Mary Griffin is an R&B singer who began singing before she was in elementary school. She consistently delivers soul-stirring performances, and channels memories and melodies that are proud and strong. Her repertoire includes "Trade Winds," "Neither One of Us," and "Thinking About You."
Kyle Turner is a jazz saxophonist known for his sultry musical notes. During his college years, he won many awards, and today he has a fan base across the country. Throughout Kyle's career, he has performed on the albums of noted artists such as Bobby Lyle and Bleu Orleans, and his songs include "Santa Cruzin'," "Feeling Your Vibe," and "Maybe This Time."
