Radicals and Revolutionists: America's Founding Fathers (on display through May 28)
During both the American Revolution and the country's early years, artists on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean created paintings, drawings, and sculptures of the leaders as well as works that captured military and political events. Men such as Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton became icons of the revolution, though many others also played a key part in the outcomes. This fascinating exhibit tells that larger story through a transatlantic lens that includes patriots, loyalists, and more.
Modernism on the Ganges: Raghubir Singh Photographs (on display through June 3)
Called "A dazzling selection" by The Wall Street Journal, this exhibit displays the works of street photographer Raghubir Singh who pushed his genre into a world of living color. Born in India, his career took him to cities such as Paris, London, and Hong Kong, and he was never tempted to capture the images in black and white. Visitors will see nearly ninety of his photographs that range from his early works of the 1960s to the unpublished ones of the late 1990s.
Peacock in the Desert: The Royal Arts of Jodhpur, India (on display through August 19)
For the first time, generations of royal treasures from India are on display in the United States. The pieces have never been seen beyond palace walls, and some date back nearly four hundred years. Highlights include jeweled ceremonial objects, finely crafted arms, and ornate furnishings.
