Where to Find the Best Appetizers in Houston
When you eat out, do you enjoy snacking on appetizers while you wait for your entree?
If so, here are three places that will start your meal off right:
Hugo's is where guests can enjoy the exciting and earthy flavors of Mexico. Chef Hugo Ortega opened the restaurant in 2002, and last year, he was named the "Best Southern Chef" at the James Beard Foundation Awards. The Latin-inspired building takes guests back to 1925, and it has been painstakingly restored to include contemporary touches as well as the traditional elements of Mexico. Guests enjoy the friendly service and appetizers such as pulpo al carbon. This customer favorite is grilled octopus with onions and peppers served with chipotle tomatillo salsa and small tortillas.
Pappas Seafood House
Pappas Seafood House has been welcoming hungry diners since the early 1980s. Owners Chris and Harris Pappas are descendants of Greek fisherman, and they use their roots to provide the freshest seafood possible. The atmosphere offers a scaled-back elegance of an old-style seafood restaurant, and the chefs make the bread and salad dressings from scratch every day. Start your meal with the shrimp and crab fondue that's served with Vermont white cheddar cheese and grilled ciabatta bread.
Etoile Cuisine et Bar
The owners of Etoile created the restaurant as they wanted to dispel the notion that French cuisine is heavy and pretentious. The dining room features a warm European atmosphere with an intriguing design, and it's where guests can enjoy a leisurely meal with family and friends. There are several appetizers to choose from including Safranaise: mussels with saffron, tomatoes, and fresh herbs.
